Passports Please!

Well, we got a Westjet sale about a week ago and finally bought tickets to Hawaii. The only problem, we don't have current passports. Being the rational and cautious people we are we did at least check with passport canada prior to buying the tickets. We were informed that if we applied at our local Service Canada (the only option up here) we would recieve our passports in 6 weeks plus mailing time. So no problem, right? Well I took our applications in and talked to an agent there and found out that processing time is more like 64 business days plus mailing time; Making it early January before our passports could arrive. So fortunately Shaun had the weekend off and we jumped in the car and drove down to Edmonton to make our pilgrimage to the Passport Office. We left Isaac with at Auntie's house, since he still will not cooperate and sit still with the required neutral facial expression required for a passport photo. We aimed to get down to the passport office right when it opened, but with one thing and another we didn't get there until it had been open for a few hours. The line-up was already snaking it's way around the lobby in a Disneyland-in-July sort of way and I was worried we'd be there for hours. Well, I guess witht eh influx of passprt applications, the staff really know their stuff and were quite efficient; we were out of there after only an hour and a half. A few weeks later, as promised, our passports arrived in the mail and our trip was saved. WHEW!
